First Friday Concert at the Lighthouse: Chris Gonsalves Jazz Trio aka Captain Kidd's Trio
Description Bring a picnic and join the Stonington Historical Society and Captain Kidd’s Jazz Trio on August 4th 2017 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Old Lighthouse Museum as they rediscover jazz treasures from the early to mid twentieth century. The Lighthouse Museum will be open for visitors and offer free admission before and during the concert. This is the second installment of the Stonington Historical Society’s First Friday series.
Captain Kidd’s Jazz Trio features Chris Gonsalves on drums, Chip Funny on Saxophone and Dirck Westervelt on the keyboard. The trio will entertain with jazz from the early to mid twentieth century featuring works from Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Audience members will have the chance to admire the beautiful scenery on Little Narragansett Bay during this family friendly night of music and history on the grounds of the Old Lighthouse Museum.
First Friday events are sponsored by the Stonington Historical Society and held on the first Friday of each month at various Historical Society properties. They are free and open to the public. Guests are invited to park at Stonington Point and walk up to the Lighthouse Museum.
